Yarraman, Queensland
Yarraman is a town in Queensland, Australia. The town is located northwest of the state capital, Brisbane on the junction of the New England and D'Aguilar highways.
==History==
The creek at Yarraman was used in the 1870s as a place for local graziers and stockmen to meet and trade cattle. The township was established in the late 1870s.〔(South Burnett Net: Yarraman ), accessed 17 Jan 2010〕 Yarraman means "horse" in the Port Jackson Pidgin English spread by Aboriginal stockmen in eastern Australia. 〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.queenslandplaces.com.au/yarraman )〕 It is thought to be derived from the word "yira" or "yera" which means large teeth, possibly from one of the Sydney languages.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.dnrm.qld.gov.au/land/place-names/search/queensland-place-names-search )〕

As there were many large hoop pine forests in the area, a timber mill was established in 1910.〔
